Driving the debate on high speed rail

Chris Green chairs the Advisory Panel. Chris is a widely respected railwayman with 40 years of railway experience. Chris started his career in 1965 as a Management Trainee and rose to become managing director of both Network SouthEast in 1986 and InterCity in 1992. Following privatisation, he became Chief Executive of Virgin Trains and is currently a non-executive director with Network Rail. Chris has always been associated with major railway projects and is committed to increasing both the speed and capacity of the UK rail network.

 

Richard Bowker CBE is Chief Executive of National Express Group. He was previously Chief Executive of Partnerships for Schools, and prior to that, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA). Richard is the former commercial director of Virgin Group and co-chairman of Virgin Rail.

Lord Faulkner of Worcester has been a member of the House of Lords since 1999, and became a member of the Lord Speaker's panel of Deputy Chairmen in 2007. He has been an active campaigner on railway and transport issues for the last 30 years. He was an adviser to the British Railways Board from 1977 to 1998, is a vice-president of Transport 2000, treasurer of the parliamentary all-party railways group, chairman of the parliamentary all-party sustainable aviation group, and chairman of the Railway Heritage Committee.hairman of the Railway Heritage Committee.

 

Sir Peter Hall is Professor of Planning and Regeneration at the Bartlett School of Architecture and Planning, University College London. From 1991–94 he was Special Adviser on Strategic Planning to the Secretary of State for the Environment, with special reference to issues of London and South East regional planning including Thames Gateway and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. He was member of the Deputy Prime Minister's Urban Task Force (1998–1999).

 

Richard Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Eurostar, has worked in the UK rail industry for over 30 years. He is Chairman of the Railway Forum and President-Elect of the Institute of Logistics and Transport. He worked for National Express Group from 1996 as Chief Executive, Trains and, latterly, as Group Commercial Director and Board member. Richard was also Chairman of the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) in 2000 and 2001, during
one of the most challenging periods for the UK rail industry.
