A research study into the potential full carbon impacts of HS2 has been commissioned from Greengauge 21 by the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), the Campaign for Better Transport (CBT) and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). This report sets out the interim findings, highlighting the issues that we have identified as likely to be significant in the carbon case for HS2. Read on »

Greengauge 21 fully supports the development of a high-speed rail network for Britain and welcomes the Government proposals published for consultation in February 2010. This new report, submitted to Government in July 2011 for the HS2 consultation, sets out ways in which the value of HS2 – already substantial – could be increased further. Read on »

This PwC report for Greengauge 21 sets out the first analysis of what the Government could expect to see as a financial return if it sells the infrastructure of High Speed 2 (HS2), in the same way as a 30-year concession was recently sold for HS1. PwC’s figures show it could produce between £6bn and £7bn as a return on the £13.9bn investment. Read on »
